1. To do this month: Plant a herb for pollinators

Flowering herbs can be excellent sources of food for pollinators as well as great for people. See our A5 flier on pollinator-friendly herbs to choose from: http://www.pollinators.ie/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/AIPP-Herbs-A5-Flyer-PRINT.pdf

2. To spot this month: keep an eye out for the Grey Mining bee

This is one of our most common solitary bee species. It is a spring species and will generally be seen between March- June. It makes its nest by mining into bare soil. If you spot it please submit a record: https://records.biodiversityireland.ie/record/solitary-bees#7/53.455/-8.016

3. What will you do for World Bee Day on the 20th May?

Celebrate World Bee Day by taking a pollinator-friendly action or by helping spread the word about the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan. We have lots of graphics for sharing on social media here: http://pollinators.ie/media/to-share-on-social-media/  If you are planning an event let us know http://pollinators.ie/events/ We're hoping the Irish Examiner will provide World Bee Day pull-outs - check the print edition on both the 17th and 18th May..
