Upcoming Communication to Families of Students with Disabilities Missing Transportation Forms

OSSE is working to ensure timely transportation services for eligible students with disabilities. In pursuit of that goal, this year the OSSE Division of Student Transportation will be sending communication directly to families for whom we do not have a complete Transportation Request Form (TRF) following the TRF deadlines for both the extended school year (ESY) and the 2019-20 school year. The communication will inform parents and guardians of students eligible for transportation services that OSSE has not received a TRF for the upcoming term (either ESY or the 2019-20 school year) and will ask families to contact their school to ensure that the appropriate school liaison has the accurate information in order to submit a TRF. As a reminder, the deadline for ESY TRFs was Monday, May 6, and for the 2019-20 school year the deadline is Monday, June 3.

For questions about communication to parents, contact our Parent Resource Center at (202) 576-5000. For questions about the TOTE system, please contact our TOTE Support Line at (202) 576-5520.

Coming Up: DC School Report Card Metric Calculation Confirmation

For the annual DC School Report Card and STAR Framework, LEAs will work with OSSE to review and certify all school information and calculations through Metric Calculation Confirmation (MCC). LEA Data Managers, please mark your calendars! OSSE will lead three phases of MCC starting this summer.

MCC Phase I: July 16-Aug. 30
  • School Profile Page Information (e.g., message from the school, school leadership info, parent organization, logistics, school program offerings, extracurricular/enrichment programs). As a reminder, these items have been open for editing in the data source (e.g., eSchoolPLUS, SLIMS, EMI) since May 1. Please look for detailed guidance to be released soon. All edits to these items must be finalized by July 9 in advance of MCC Phase I.
  • Health Data
  • Teacher & Staffing Data
MCC Phase II: Sept. 5-26
  • Assessments (PARCC, MSAA, CLASS, ACCESS)
  • Attendance
  • Student Growth
  • Enrollment
  • Mobility
  • Re-engagement (alternative schools only)
MCC Phase III: Sept. 27-Oct. 16
  • Assessments (AP, IB, SAT)
  • College Enrollment
  • Discipline
  • Graduation & Secondary Completion
Please note Heads of School certify the underlying data for metric calculations during a separate process called Data Validation.

Two data sources will be reviewed and confirmed by LEAs outside of the Data Validation and MCC processes this year due to the timing of when the data will be available: the DC Science Assessment and school finance data. While these data will be included on the DC School Report Card, neither will be used to calculate STAR scores and ratings. For questions about MCC, please contact Donna Johnson, OSSE director of accountability, at DonnaR.Johnson@dc.gov.
