Sharing Jesus - Easter Outreaches

After weeks of prayer and invitation, 35 international students gathered at Cliff and Connie’s house for an Easter outreach. Cliff and Connie are good friends of ours who work with the international student ministry of Cru.  They regularly open their home and host events where they can share the life changing message of Jesus with students from many different countries.

They shared, “We started off with 6 teams in a competition to find their 12 eggs of a certain color.  When each team found their 12 eggs, they ran back to the deck, opened their eggs and tried to put together miscellaneous pieces of paper from each egg (when completed, it said ‘It is finished’).  Students loved the competition, everybody wants to win.

Next, we gathered in the living room and used a spotlight to focus on four students who had individually written a special piece about the Biblical account of Easter, leading to the question ‘Why did Jesus say ‘it is finished?’.  There has to be a beginning if something is to finish, so the narrator took us back to creation and God's desire to have a relationship with us. But man created a problem by doing what God said not to do...

Then three student actors reenacted Biblical interactions with Jesus . The narrator stitched it all together, explaining why one of the last phrases of Jesus ‘It is finished’, was Jesus paying the debt for each of us and how we could receive that forgiveness.  Jeremy then shared how his personal relationship with Jesus has made a huge difference in his life.”

They passed out comment cards afterwards and four students left their name and ask someone from Cru to tell them more about Jesus! The following week I got this P.S. from Cliff: “On Tuesday evening, an International student trusted Christ after considering this choice for 6 years!”

Let’s keep praying for more young people to come to Jesus and for those, like Jeremy, who are engaging their community to tell them about the resurrected life in Jesus!
Eliana approached me while eating our Easter meal and asked me, “Daddy, can we make cards that say ‘Jesus loves you. Happy Easter’ and go hand them out at the park?”

As a family, we had been praying about how to do something on Resurrection Sunday to engage people in our community, but that was not my plan. The Holy Spirt impressed on me to rely on Him, not on my ideas.

Eliana had so much joy pointing out every person she saw on the way to the park so we could give them a packet with the card and some candy.  About 15 kids did an Easter egg hunt with us at the park.  Then gathered them around, near their parents, to tell the resurrection story. Some of the Muslim children voiced different beliefs about who Jesus is, yet, in the end, they asked for more packets with candy and the card to take to their siblings.

Later, Eliana told me, “It was a good day Daddy.”  It brings me so much joy to see God’s Spirit work through Eliana!

Easter Dress-up:
