Rising 6th, 7th and 8th grade camp

Any rising 6th, 7th, or 8th grade student who will be attending East Cobb Middle School in the Fall of 2019 is eligible to attend summer camp. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of learning experiences catered to their needs.

The cost of summer camp is FREE.

Dates: Monday - Thursday, June 3 - 6 and June 13th - 16th Time: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Where: East Cobb Middle School

Get ready for the 8th grade Dance

ECMS 8th Grade Dance Celebration will be held May 21, 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 through May 17 and $12 after. Come "Flamingle" and Limbo with your Hoa Kula in Paradise at our Hawaiian Luau. A signed permission slip is required for attendance. 
 

Yearbooks are now $40

Yearbooks will soon be available for purchase at $40 per yearbook. Students should look to buy them in the cafeteria before school starts. 


Annual 8th grade picnic

The annual 8th grade picnic is Monday, May 20th at 1:15PM.  If weather cooperates, it will be held on the field behind our building.  

Help us make this a memorable event for our 8th graders donating food and other items to the event. Please click here if you would like to donate an item to the picnic. 

 

Say Happy Birthday to your student on the school sign!

Wish your child a very special Happy Birthday on the school's marquee!  The marquee will display your wishes for one week, Saturday - Friday, for all ECMS community to see. Sign up here.
 

2019 Honors Celebrations

Honors celebrations will take place during the last week of school. Invitations will come home May 15th and May 16th with students who will be receiving an award. All ceremonies will begin at 9:30AM in the theater; 6th grade on May 20, 2019, 7th grade on May 21, 2019, and 8th grade on May 22, 2019.


Annual End-of-Year Contest

It’s time for the annual End-Of-Year Contest to get all of the books returned to the Learning Commons!! Here’s how it works… The first two homerooms that return ALL of their books to the Learning Commons will receive a doughnut party and Mrs. F will do the homeroom teacher’s lunch duty of his/her choice!! The last day for the contest is Friday, May 10th!! If there are more than two homerooms with all of their books returned by Friday, May 10th, I will draw names for the winners! GOOD LUCK!!!


Join the Wheeler Color Guard

Interested in joining the Wheeler Color Guard for the Fall 2019 Season? Auditions will be held May 15-17 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
 

Want a chance to win a $250,000 scholarship?

Is your child great at explaining math or science concepts? Want a chance to win a $250,000 scholarship? We’re proud to partner with the Breakthrough Junior Challenge video contest again this year. Students ages 13 through 18 are invited to create a short— under three minutes— video explaining a challenging concept in physics, mathematics, or the life sciences in an engaging, illuminating, and creative way.

In addition to awarding a $250,000 college scholarship to the winner, the Breakthrough Junior Challenge will give the winner’s teacher a $50,000 prize and the winner’s school a new $100,000 science lab. Calling ALL Youth of Georgia!

Georgia PTA in conjunction with the Usher's New Look (UNL) Foundation is hosting the second-ever youth summit at the North Atlanta High School concurrent with the 105th Convention Leadership Training. This gathering is an opportunity for young people ages 10-17 from across the state of Georgia to directly experience a comprehensive program that develops passion-driven, global leaders. 2019 Middle School Summer Credit Recovery Program

Location:  Cobb Horizon High School
Cost:  $350 per class - Math or ELA only
When:  June 12 - June 27

Wheeler's Science Spectrum Summer Camp

Rising 7th - 9th: Wheeler is once again hosting Science Spectrum camp this summer from June 10 - 14, 2019, 9:00am - 3:00pm daily.

Designed for rising 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students who have an interest in science and engineering. This five day camp will offer students the opportunity to explore an array of science and engineering fields including Robotics, Chemistry, Forensics,Biotechnology, and Engineering. Learn more. 

 

Wildcat Volleyball Summer Camp

Camp Invention hosted by Sedalia Park

Calling all rising 7-9th graders: Do you want to be a student leader at Camp Invention this summer? (hosted at Sedalia Park) Your child can be a role model for younger inventors. The Leaders-in-Training program invites 7th to 9th graders to participate in Camp Invention® in a whole new way. They’ll guide children through exciting STEM activities during the week of a local camp program, encouraging creativity and hands-on fun while building their leadership and goal-setting abilities.

When: June 10-13 from 8-4
Where: Sedalia Park

Waves Summer Music Camp Registration is open

Are you looking for a awesome summer camp for your student?
ECMS is offering team building, lots of social activities, soccer, football, ultimate frisbee, movie day, SuperHero Day, and a host of music electives including Jazz, World Drumming, Guitar, Large and Small Ensembles. We even have a beginner track for rising 6th graders who want to get a jumpstart on playing their instrument. This camp is for rising 6th through rising 9th grade students. Register your student today. 

Cost is $125 for the week from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. each.
