Pastor Sheryl Ice is the new lead pastor at the South Hill Encounter congregation. Pastor Sheryl was ordained at our recent District Assembly and, along with her husband, Charles and daughter, Sophia, began at Encounter in April. Prior to this new role Sheryl served on the staff at Puyallup Church where she gave oversight to compassionate ministries. She brings that same passion for service and outreach to this new assignment. We are looking forward to good and effective ministry that will be accomplished through her leadership.

In June, Pastor Ben and Alisha George, along with their sons, Nathan and Silas, moved to western Washington from Long Beach, CA. Pastor Ben has been installed as the new lead pastor at the Starting Grounds Church in Battle Ground and is already getting connected with the church and community. We welcome Ben and Alisha to the WaPac team and are looking forward to good days of ministry for the Starting Grounds Church.

Bible Quizzing is about "guiding our youth into God's Word and the Word into their lives." This year's Youth Bible Quizzing is studying Hebrews and 1 & 2 Peter. If you are interested in starting a Bible Quizzing Program in your local church or if you are interested in using the materials for a Bible study with your youth group, please contact the WaPac Bible Quizzing Director, Daniel Bahr (dbahr92@gmail.com). New ideas and information come at us like a river at flood stage. Before we have the opportunity to think about the possibilities of a new concept, something else rushes in and captures our attention. When our discipleship ministries team introduced us to Surprise the World: The Five Habits of Highly Missional People at District Assembly, a concern was that the concepts would be catchy for the workshop, but soon forgotten and not implemented. I'm convinced that Michael Frost is on to something and that if we integrate "Bells" (Blessing, Eating, Learning, Listening and Sent) into our lives personally and collectively, we might be the ones surprised by what God would do in and through us.
