Message from NRWC President Leonie Noble

Welcome to our NRWC May e-Newsletter

Eleanor Roosevelt said ‘With the new day comes new strength and new thoughts’
This was at the forefront of the NRWC Board’s minds as we went into our two-day strategic planning days in April. The NRWC Board came away with a renewed strength and determination to create and increase innovative opportunities for Australian RRR women, NRWC e-Leader Alumnae and Member Organisations.

NRWC have a Roundtable coming up in Canberra themed e-Safety for Rural Women and Families this month that will enable us to further develop policy around this issue in order to advocate with Government on behalf of RRR Women. Increased knowledge in this area will also assist the NRWC in our program development, we all know how important it is, in our digital worlds to be vigilant and knowledgeable in this area.

The LunchBox learning sessions have been completed along with our e-Skilling Leadership webinar program for last quarter and we thank everyone that presented and attended those fantastic sessions.

The NRWC residential muster program will be in August this year and advertising for this highly sought after program will begin shortly so keep an eye out on our social media platforms.

In coming newsletters you will have an opportunity to meet the amazing board members of the NRWC. They will each be introduced to you in the Presidents opening welcome. The work that each board member does on a volunteer basis to ensure RRR women are given the opportunity to access learning and leadership programs is immense and for that I am truly humbled. So enjoy learning about who they are and what they do in the coming months.

Take care and enjoy this packed newsletter

Leonie

Your Fertility – reliable information for future parents

Most women want to have children at some stage in their life, but it doesn’t always come easily. With one in six couples having trouble conceiving, you or somebody you know may want trustworthy information about how to achieve a healthy pregnancy and baby. NRWC recently partnered with Your Fertility, a government funded national health education program that helps women and men understand how they can improve their preconception health and their chances of pregnancy.

No matter where you live, the website provides the latest information about factors that affect both female and male fertility, including environmental chemicals such as pesticides, weight and alcohol. It also includes personal stories, videos from experts, fact sheets and interactive tools including an ovulation calculator.
