Dear reader,
The news item ‘Youth are the present, not only the future!’ reflects on the Decent Jobs for Youth conference organized by ILO in Rome on 28 and 29 May. At this meeting, the rights and voice of youth were discussed by the diverse partners of this Global Initiative, bringing together their resources and expertise on engaging youth now to maximize the positive impact of investments in youth employment.
INCLUDE furthermore presented its joint research initiative with IDRC and ILO on ‘Boosting decent employment for Africa’s youth'. More on this research initiative will be featured in the upcoming newsletters.
Knowledge manager Frank van Kesteren shares his thoughts in this piece on the rise of cash+ programmes in Sub-Saharan Africa, as discussed in the Transfer Project workshop in Arusha last April. INCLUDE is pleased to see the emergence of this trend of adopting integrated programmes for inclusive development in national policy making in Africa. Learn more about cash+ programmes and the implications for research, policy and practice.
Kind regards,
INCLUDE Secretariat
