Update & Events
Riding at last!
After a bit of a soggy and cold start, it's finally time to get the bikes out and we've had a good start so far.
Our ADV riding calendar is typically kicked off with a trip to Swanton, OH to hit the trails in the Maumee State Forest. It was in the upper 30's and raining (never a good combination), so we called it off after all the tough adventure riders backed out. However, looking closely at the weather forecast it looked warm and dry to the north, so a couple of us decided to make our way up to the trails near Gladwin. It was 60 degrees, sunny, and dry, which made for a great day in the woods. The sand was deep as always!

We had a group head down to the Stolen Pig Rally on the Hatfield and McCoy trail system in Matewan, WV. While it was a bit wet, the great riding, and all the bacon you can eat made for a fun time for all who made the trek.

How can you not smile with all the bacon you can eat!
Several TCD'ers were in attendance at the BMW Mini Rally in Delton, MI. Great weather for the first local camping event. Paul Olexa also organized an ADV ride in the same area on Saturday. We had 8 riders on the excellent roads and trails in and around Yankee Springs and Hastings (a stop at the Mini-Rally was included as well).

This past Sunday was an awesome riding day for all who rode out to the All Clubs Ride in Stockbridge. It's always a great destination (Make sure you remember to put the All Clubs Day on your planner for later in the year!)

More great rides coming up!
The TCD Urban Ride is this Saturday, May 11th. It's always a good time and hopefully, the weather forecast will hold! We meet at Los Galanes in Mexicantown at 9:00 for breakfast. 362 Bagley St, Detroit, MI 48216. We're typically finished with the ride by noon. Look for the GPS tracks in the BMW TCD forum on the website.
We look forward to seeing everyone at the TCD night on Tuesday May 14th at the Sidetrack Bar & Grill in Ypsilanti. 56 E Cross St, Ypsilanti, MI 48198. We're moving it back to our typical summer spot. Tuesdays are bike night in Ypsi, so there's always a crowd. You might have to walk around the Sidetrack to find the group, but we'll be there someplace. (Back deck, side room, etc.) Start time is 6:30, but some folks get there earlier.
Saturday May 18th is the annual Open House at BMW Motorcycles of Southeast Michigan. This is always a great event. Hope to see you there!
We have a new event added to the calendar. On Sunday, May 19th, after breakfast in Pinckney we will be having a ride to Ruth Zimmerman's house in Williamston. Ruth and her late husband, Jim Creighton were very active in the club for many years. There have been many scenic rides to their place for Camping Demo's, Hot Dog cookout's, etc. Ruth is no longer riding now that she has lost her riding buddy, and has a lot of motorcycle stuff that she would like to pass along. Some of the items available include: winter and summer jackets, pants, boots, gloves, helmets, battery tenders, Helen Two Wheels bags, sleeping mats, side and rear GS luggage, leather seat, tires, misc. parts. She is accepting all offers (even potentially offers of $0) to move the gear out. There will be a hot dog lunch over the fire. Ride details from Pinckney will be coming soon.
