If you would like to work with a group from a grantwriting class this fall to write a grant for your organization, contact Laura Littlepage at llittlep@iu.edu or call at 812-855-5263. You provide the idea, they will look for funding sources, help you determine a program description, a budget and whatever else is needed.
Banneker Community Center Seeks Representatives for Advisory Council
Bloomington, Ind. - The City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department is seeking members for the Banneker Community Center Advisory Council (BCCAC). According to Banneker Community Center Coordinator Erik Pearson, Banneker has re-imagined the traditional role of the Advisory Council, and is eager for the new members to help create Banneker's identity, and to guide its future place in the community.
Five to seven members of the BCCAC who represent the diverse population served by Banneker, and who have experience or interest in working with low-income populations and at-risk youth, are sought to contribute their expertise to the BBCAC. Ideal advisory council members may also have a background in education or social work, and/or familiarity with the near west side community.
The BCCAC meets monthly at the Banneker Community Center.
Applications must be submitted to the City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department, 401 N. Morton St., Suite 250 by Friday, May 31. Applicants may apply online, or download an application to fill out and return to Banneker.
Support Group
Our support group is for family members and friends of addicts. We offer comfort, hope, support, peace and guidance to those suffering from the problems associated with loving a person who is addicted to drugs. Reverend Bill Vance is helping with this group. He has a Masters in Christian Counseling. We meet on the first and third Monday of each month at the annex of Second Baptist Church located on the corner of 8th and Rogers Streets in Bloomington from 6:30-8:00pm. Head Start is a family centered child development program whose mission is to promote school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children through the provision of educational, health, nutritional, social and other services to enrolled children and families
Eligibility Requirements:
· Family income below the federal poverty guidelines
-Transitioning through homelessness or foster care
· Head Start: children between 3-5 years
· Early Head Start Center-based: children between 6 weeks-3 years
· Early Head Start home-based: pregnant mothers and children under 3 years old

Relationships: The Key to Fundraising Success

Jeff Baldwin, the 13-year Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bloomington, will focus on relationships and how vital they are to your organization’s growth and sustainability. Special attention will be paid to board, donor, and volunteer development. Light refreshments will be served or feel free to bring your lunch to this noontime event.
Jeff Baldwin was born and raised in the Greater Detroit Area. Jeff attended Western Michigan University, graduating in 1985 with a BA in Elem'. Ed. Hired by MCCSC in fall of '85 and taught at Clear Creek Elementary until 1992. In 1991, established a lawn and landscape maintenance and installation company (LawnTech). Rejoined the teaching profession in 2000 and taught at St. Charles School, working there until the fall of 2006. Jeff was hired by Boys and Girls Clubs of Bloomington in September of 2006 as Executive Director. In his tenure, the organization added a new club site in Ellettsville in 2009 and recently completed a capital campaign that raised in excess of $10 million that resulted in a brand new club facility in Crestmont Neighborhood and a fully renovated club facility on Lincoln Street in Bloomington. Total kids served has increased by 500% since 2006.

CDFI Friendly Bloomington
Executive Director
CDFI Friendly Bloomington, a startup 501.c.3 nonprofit, is seeking a founding Executive Director. The position is the primary staff person to set up the organization, with support from the founding Board of Directors, and to lead it in its work.
The primary roles of CDFI Friendly Bloomington are to:
- Create a new model for CDFI financing, by establishing local CDFI Friendly Bloomington to collaborate with regional and national CDFIs and encourage them to serve the Bloomington market.
- Market and promote Bloomington and Monroe County to CDFIs across the state, the region, and the nation.
- Match CDFIs to local demand for financing from businesses, housing developers, nonprofits, and community organizations.
- Structure and manage financial investments alongside the CDFIs in support of local borrowers.
- The ideal candidate will bring credit experience at a CDFI and/or in community development, experience or capacity to manage a startup organization, strong leadership qualities, and the disposition for working closely with a nonprofit board. Familiarity with Bloomington/Monroe County is a plus.
