Early-season weed control is important
Winter annual weeds and newly emerged summer annuals are starting to flourish. As temperatures start to increase, competition for field operations will occur. Most growers will want to start planting as soon as possible, but it is important to make sure weeds are managed prior to planting. Not controlling weeds can interfere with planting and compete with the emerging crop for light, water, nutrients and space that can reduce crop yield. To continue reading click here.

Market Commentary

All three pressured lower again Thursday after disappointing weekly export figures, another likely bearish round of USDA reports due out on Friday, and continued trade tension between the U.S. and China.
Late Thursday afternoon, soybeans are recovering a bit from fresh contract lows set earlier in the session, but remain over a dime lower on the July. Beans were sharply lower at the open after weekly export data showed a net 5.5 million bushels of U.S. soybean sales were cancelled for 2018/2019 for the week ending May 2nd.

We hope you've met our new scale & customer service rep in Blissfield! Kaylyn Turland is a recent graduate of Kansas State University with a bachelors in Agricultural Economics. She grew up in Otisville, MI and enjoyed showing 4-H as a child. In her spare time she likes to be outdoors fishing, hunting and camping. She is excited to work with the farming community and gain knowledge of the grain industry, and we're excited to have her at MAC!
