Medicaid Expansion
CALL TO ACTION

Contact the Joint Committee on Finance!

Governor Evers has proposed an expansion of Medicaid that will cover 28,065 more people in our four-county metropolitan Milwaukee service area.  Members of the Joint Committee on Finance have indicated that they will likely try to remove this request from the budget.  It is important that they keep this in the budget.  It is also URGENT - the vote is tomorrow morning, so make your calls and e-mails today!  Among the increased services and programs are:

  • Increased Medicaid rates for physicians and medical clinics providing mental health, behavioral health, and psychiatric services
  • Funding for five regional crisis stabilization centers
  • State funding for Medicaid crisis intervention services delivered by counties for treatment of mental illness, intellectual disability, substance abuse, and dementia.
  • Increased reimbursements for dentists, including those that serve people with physical and developmental disabilities
  • Funds to serve the 1000+ children with disabilities currently waiting to access the children’s long-term services and supports waiver
  • Funding for Lead Exposure and poisoning prevention
  • Wage increases for direct care workers in Family Care
  • Wage increases for personal care workers

The Survival Coalition has more information.

1.  Contact Senator Alberta Darling, 608-266-5830 and Representative John Nygren, 608-266-2343.
2.  Contact the other members of the Joint Committee on Finance.  Use this list, and click on names for contact information.
3.  Contact your own legislator, if different than the ones on the JCF.  Use "Find your Legislator" if needed.

Remember, you can keep it simple and just say, "I support Medicaid Expansion and I am asking you to support it, too."
