Transitioning Ownership of Electronic LMIS in Zambia

In support of the journey to self-reliance, JSI’s AIDSFree project in Zambia is working with the Ministry of Health (MOH) to fully transition leadership and ownership of the electronic logistics management information system (eLMIS) to the MOH by 2022. Together we have developed a sustainability plan outlining key roles and responsibilities in governance, financing, and capacity for optimal operation of the eLMIS by the MOH. To support financial sustainability and management, we developed a Total Cost of Ownership tool to help the MOH and stakeholders understand current and future eLMIS management, deployment and maintenance costs, and funding commitments and gaps to inform resource mobilization efforts for the eLMIS. Cambodia Ministry of Education Takes Ownership of Track and Trace System for Book Supply Chain

JSI and partner, World Education Inc., have teamed up to develop a Track and Trace (TnT) system for textbooks and other learning materials. The system enables ministry officials, partners, and distributors to track in real time the ordering and distribution of books and other supplies to ensure that they reach the schools they were destined for in a timely manner, in the right quantity, and in the right condition. In 2018, TnT was piloted in 400 schools in Cambodia using chat-bots to collect data from and send information to schools. So far 140,000 books were successfully received by 416 schools using the system. Due to the success of the pilot and the affordability of the system, the Cambodian Minister of Education has committed to supporting the ongoing costs of TnT at scale starting in 2020.
