Dear colleagues and friends,

On behalf of the Organizing Committee I cordially invite you to the 29th European Childhood Obesity Group (ECOG) Annual Meeting to be held in Katowice, 13-16 November 2019. ECOG is an international scientific organization that brings together a multidisciplinary group of specialists that has been dealing with childhood obesity for almost 30 years in line with its motto "Translating science into daily clinical practice". Therefore, the topics discussed at the conference will focus on the latest issues related to childhood obesity with particular attention to the possibility of early prevention and developing a model of care that could improve the effectiveness of treatment of the disease and its complications

Be prepared for an exciting program that includes plenary lectures, symposia, working groups, workshops, round table discussion and interesting clinical case presentations. Moreover, free communications and e-poster sessions will allow delegates from around the world to present and discuss their latest findings in an interactive environment and promote international collaboration in research and clinical practice.

The meeting will be held in the Hotel Vienna House Easy situated in city center of Katowice.

Katowice is the capital and largest city of Silesian Voivodeship, Poland. Formerly Katowice was well known as a main industrial centre in Poland. However, contemporary Katowice has expanded to become a vibrant cultural and business center, with a fascinating Silesian Museum situated in the completely revitalized former coal mine which is detailing the industrial, artistic, and cultural history of the Silesian region. Tourists will find an interesting city with charming secessionist architecture from the early 1900s, famous flying saucer-shaped concert hall, the Spodek, historic reminders of the German and communist past, stunning modern architecture, hospitable and proud local people.

I look forward to welcoming you to Katowice in 2019.

ECOG brings together experts from across the board including: paediatricians, psychologists, nutritionists, geneticists, physical activity experts, economists and many more. The group was founded in 1991 and its mission is to help the European community at large to understand fully the health, social, psychological and economic impacts of childhood obesity, and work together to take this growing problem "off the menu" in Europe.
