Dr. Erin Returns!
In response to the many of you who begged us to bring her back, we are "over the moon" to announce the return of Dr. Erin Macdonald to Starbase Indy 2019! Host of the Dr. Erin Explains The Universe podcast, astrophysicist, science fiction consultant, aerospace engineer, and convention favorite, Dr. Erin will once again bring her entertaining and engaging combination of science fiction and science fact to the SBI presentation stage.
Dr. Erin received her bachelor degrees in Physics with Astrophysics --cum laude! -- AND in mathematics from the University of Colorado at Boulder, followed by her Ph.D. in astrophysics from the University of Glasgow, Scotland. Her specialty is general relativity, having previously worked in the LIGO Scientific Collaboration (The Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory) searching for gravitational waves. In addition to her work as a consultant for the US Air Force and with SAIC, she is a science consultant for science fiction writing and media projects, and shares her passion for science and joy in fandom at events like DragonCon, Awesome Con, and Star Trek: The Cruise.
Never one to be too serious, she is also a tattooed Scottish-American N7 Slytherin Rebel from Starfleet. Come hear her latest adventures at SBI this year!

While Starbase Indy is delighted to bring in guests from all over, much of our most popular programming is created by members of our local community just like you. Are you passionate about something that relates to science or science fiction? Would you like to share it with your fellow members of the Starbase Indy community? If so, please share your ideas with our programming team!
At Starbase Indy, we host presentations, panels with multiple presenters, and discussion groups. Most popular are our hands-on workshops or demonstrations, where the audience gets directly involved with something intriguing! Our audiences are your fellow fans of science fiction, Star Trek, and STEM related fields - we welcome programming for children, adults, or all ages. Depending on the event, you may even be able to get a discounted convention badge!
