When our communities are in need, The 519 responds. Support The 519 to support LGBTQ2S communities.

Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Bi-phobia, and as we also mark the 50th year of Stonewall, and the 50th year of decriminalization of same sex relationships in Canada, let’s commit to continuing action for change. After all the fights our elders have fought, after all the battles we have won, after all the losses that we have endured – we cannot continue to suffer. And we must not let others in our community suffer.

Donate today to help us support our LGBTQ2S community members .

We will not accept systemic discrimination and apathy.
LGBTQ2S communities are not new to loss. We are not new to discrimination and targeted hate. We are not new to being marginalized. The tragedies we witnessed in the last year alone, and the realities we face today have shown us, once again, that we remain vulnerable.
  • Our communities are still reeling from the fact that a serial killer targeted vulnerable gay men for over a decade, brutally murdered them, and was caught after many years and many lives lost.
  • LGBTQ2S kids and youth have been fighting to keep their gender identities and sexual orientations from being erased from the curriculum, as they continue to navigate unsafe spaces.
  • Trans people continue to face violence, discrimination and extreme poverty.
  • The recent provincial budget cuts to programs and services our vulnerable LGBTQ2S communities rely on are drastically impacting the health, happiness and safety of so many people who access The 519.
  • Recent incidents of anti-LGBTQ2S hate speech in the Church & Wellesley Village, and the upsurge in right-wing extremism is exceedingly disturbing, with long term impacts on our communities.
Join our Army of Lovers
The 519 is working hard every single day to support our communities in the face of these mounting challenges:
  • In response to the provincial budget cuts to Legal Aid for refugees, The 519 is enhancing our Access to Justice programming to expand our legal clinics.
  • We are developing educational opportunities to create awareness and support LGBTQ refugees in their claims’ preparation.
  • We are expanding our Anti-Violence Initiatives focused on improving community safety outcomes, developing effective crisis response, supporting victims of violence through programming, developing partnerships, and advocating on the systemic level.
We ask you to join us in this critical moment and support us in responding to these urgent needs. We must continue to rise.

We ask you to Join our Army of Lovers and support The 519. As Rita Mae Brown said, An Army of Lovers, Shall Not Fail.
