Would it surprise you that one the staff favorites is a riesling? Peter Lauer produces pure & precise wine in the Saar of Germany. Barrel X is his entry-level release, showcasing textured fruit, chiseled frame, mineral core - and yes - a little residual sugar. It's our hot chicken wine. And our, I want a tasty bottle with acidic drive balanced by stone fruit & ginger spice wine.

Riesling ranges from sticky sweet to racy & bone dry. It also ranges from terribly over produced & one dimensional to incredibly complex & awe inspiring. Like bad chardonnay, bad riesling is really, really bad. Like great chardonnay, great riesling is about as good as wine can get. And the metric isn't based on sugar levels. It's based on balance, harmony, character, precision, fruit, acid, depth.

Find out why we love a little RS in our life. In addition to the Barrel X, we're opening Brand Riesling and two bottles of chenin blanc - another highly misunderstood & overlooked grape. Don't worry, they're not all sweet. But then again, wine is grownup juice fermented from grape must...
