Youth Mission Trip Stock Sales Fundraiser

Can you believe it?  It's time to start raising funds for our Youth Mission Trip to Ironton, Ohio!  Every youth needs to raise (or pay for) $160 in addition to the $50 registration fee.  How do we do that?  We sell "stock" as an investment in this ministry where we care for people who need help with their homes.  We ask for a donation and collect donors' contact info so we can mail them a brief letter during the mission trip thanking them for their support and sharing a bit of your mission experience.  It's a fulfilling way for donors to participate when they might not otherwise be able to.

An exceptionally easy way to raise a portion of your $160 is to work the Stock Sales tables after worship services.  (You'll still need to seek donations directly from friends, relatives, neighbors, and/or individuals at church.  Ask them - most people are excited to support!)
Two youth per time/place, first-come, first-served!

Something to Think About....

Naps are pretty great.  I don't take them often because I struggle to re-emerge, but they bring me a sort of peace.  It's usually the sort of peace that comes from temporary escape from whatever is going on in life that I'm hoping to avoid (house work, kid work, relationship work, soul work, etc.)  Maybe you've got some of your own things you avoid.

[Jesus said,] “I have spoken these things to you while I am with you. The Companion, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I told you. Peace I leave with you. My peace I give you. I give to you not as the world gives. Don’t be troubled or afraid."
--- John 14:25-27 (CEB - emphasis added)

What if the peace that Jesus gives (of course, we have to accept the gift) isn't the kind of peace that comes from not having work or worry or challenge or difficulty?  What if it's the peace that we can have (if we accept it) as we face work and worry and challenge and difficulty?  It's almost like Jesus is saying, "Brace yourselves!" and then, "Here, let me give you something to get you through it."

Take a minute right now to talk with Jesus about the tough stuff that lies before you - all of it - all the different kinds of stuff.  Then take a deep breath, and ask for His peace.  It's a peace that surpasses all understanding.  It's a peace that comes from seeking and knowing Jesus.  It's peace with a purpose, and it'll get you through.
