Dear colleagues and partners,
While I am on vacation with my family in the US this week, I couldn't not send my weekly video message to you all - it's now a firm Friday tradition! So greetings to you all from Asheville in North Carolina.
If you have any thoughts or feedback on the items I cover in this week's video newsletter, I'd love to hear from you. You can reach me on my social channels below or via email here.

First of all, Germany which has not necessarily been a leader in digitisation of its health system, has now under Health Minister Jens Spahn put forward a new draft law in this regard. It is planned to take effect from 2020.
There's a few interesting provisions in it from an EIT Health perspective - 1) it aims to better support health management apps with a focus on getting these apps more quickly through the reimbursement process, and 2) allows payers to use some part of their reserves to make more risky investments in innovative health companies and start-ups.
You can hear more in the video.

Finally, some of you will have taken note of the new WHO guidelines on the prevention of dementia. This will no doubt be of particular relevance given that treatments for dementia and related conditions like Alzheimer's disease do not seem to be forthcoming making prevention even more important.
Most of the elements of the guidelines are quite well known but some of the things that were thought to be helpful (e.g. some dietary supplements) are now regarded as not being helpful.
You can hear more in the video and check out the guidelines here.

As every week, you can also follow more of my day-to-day work through Twitter and LinkedIn though I can't promise there'll be much activity while I'm on vacation.
Until next Friday - have a great weekend and a successful next week. Looking forward to catching up with many of you when I'm back.
