This second edition of Noirnomics was supposed to be all about the benefits and pitfalls of Uber/Lyft, the recent driver protests, and how much Beyoncé really made from her Uber stock. But when I got a text on Sunday morning from one of my Morehouse brothers saying that billionaire Robert F. Smith announced during his commencement speech to the Morehouse Class of 2019 that he would be dropping an atomic bomb on their student loans and eliminating all of their debt, I knew that I had to switch the game up just like Mr. Smith just did. So in this issue, we’ll be getting to know more about Robert F. Smith, the potential enormous outcomes of his incredible gift to the Morehouse C’19, why the student debt crisis in the U.S. can be particularly debilitating for Black Americans, and what one 2020 presidential candidate plans to do about it.
