Big News - I'm a Full-Time HikingGuy

Some recent circumstances have left me at an "employment crossroads" and I've decided to give HikingGuy as a full-time job a try. I wouldn't have even attempted it if it weren't for all of your generous feedback, REI clicks, and encouragement. Devil's Punchbowl & Devil's Chair

The unique geology on the Devil’s Chair hike make it one of the most beautiful hikes in SoCal. The hike is in Devil’s Punchbowl Natural Area, which is a transition zone between the Mojave Desert and San Gabriel Mountains. It’s also on the San Andreas and Punchbowl Faults. And this easy/moderate hike ends on a dramatic rock perch called the Devil’s Chair, offering spectacular views of the colorful geology and fauna around you. As a bonus, you get to do some time on the PCT as part of the hike.

Mt Wilson Trail

Most of us have done Mt Wilson from Chantry Flat, but have you done the Mt Wilson Trail? It's a tough hike, but doesn't have the crowds that the popular Chantry Flat route has. It's also one of the first "hiking as leisure" trails in the area, dating back to the 1890s. The hike passes some old ruins of a hiker's guesthouse. If you want to do a big mountain but the big mountains still have snow, this is a great option.
