ANNOUNCEMENTS

Pentecost Potluck Picnic :: June 9
Following the worship service :: at the empty lot on Grace Ave.
After the worship service on Pentecost Sunday, we’ll have a picnic on the empty lot that the church owns just south of the church on Grace Ave. A few gracious volunteers have already “signed-up” to grill hamburgers and hotdogs, which will be provided by the church. The church will also provide drinks. If your last name begins with A-N, please bring side dishes; O-Z please bring dessert. Please also bring a blanket to sit on or lawn chairs. If you need any help transporting your items from the church to the lot, people will be around and will be happy to help you!

Children's Ministry :: Summer Schedule
During the months of June and July, nursery-age children will be welcomed into two rooms: one for children ages 0-2 and another for children ages 3-5. Children who have completed Kindergarten through 5th grade are invited to gather in the multi-purpose room for a combined, interactive class called "Camping Through the Commandments." Children who are communicants will be invited to come downstairs for communion on June 2 and July 7.

As always, your children are invited to remain in all of worship according to your family's preference on any or all Sundays. If you have any questions about Kingdom Kids, please contact Angela at afinan@ncfstl.org.

Summer Sunday Lunch Hosts Needed
June 16, June 23, July 7, July 14, and July 21

Each summer, New City South receives the gift of teams (made up mostly of high school students) who travel to St. Louis to serve for one week in Summer Tutoring and work projects in the community. On Sundays, their first day with us, we seek to have NCF-S people host groups of 5-10 for lunch. To sign up to host a lunch, please use the sign-up sheet in this Sunday’s worship service or email Eileen: eogorman@ncfstl.org. If you have already signed up, Eileen will be in touch to schedule a date.

Help Needed on Hospitality Team
Each Sunday a member of the Hospitality Team prepares everything needed to celebrate the Lord's Supper and sets up and cleans up for Coffee Time. Team members serve about once every six weeks. These contributions to our church bless many and blend well into normal Sunday morning activities. We are in need of 2 to 3 more individuals to join the team. Please consider if you can join the team and if you are interested, please talk to Eileen or email her at eogorman@ncfstl.org.

New Members Class
If you are not a member of New City South and would like to become a member, or if you are curious to know what church membership is all about, please consider joining the upcoming New Members Class. We'd like to have some idea of who is interested in the class before setting a date and time, in order to accommodate as many schedules as possible. If you are interested in joining the class or learning more, please email Eileen: eogorman@ncfst.org.

NCF-S Staff Opening for Part-Time Nursery Director
New City South has a part-time staff opening for a Nursery Director, beginning in June. This is a six-hour per week job with a good deal of flexibility. If you would like to learn more, please email Eileen eogorman@ncfstl.org.

Firm Foundation Tutoring Seeks a Summer Teacher
June and July (6 weeks)
New City's Firm Foundation Tutoring offers a whole-day program for elementary school children for six weeks each summer. Firm Foundation is seeking one teacher (paid position) this summer to teach a class of 12-15 students. The tutoring program takes place Monday through Thursday June 3 to July 25, with a week off from July 1 to 5. Former classroom teaching experience is helpful. A teaching certification is not required. To learn more or apply, contact Laurie Jones: laurie@ncfstl.org.

Psalm 124

A song of ascents. Of David.

If the Lord had not been on our side—let Israel say—
if the Lord had not been on our side when people attacked us,
they would have swallowed us alive when their anger flared against us; the flood would have engulfed us, the torrent would have swept over us, the raging waters would have swept us away.

Praise be to the Lord, who has not let us be torn by their teeth. We have escaped like a bird from the fowler’s snare; the snare has been broken, and we have escaped. Our help is in the name of the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
