Summer 2019 Newsletter
Summer!

Here at the MGA, exams and papers have been marked, final grades posted, and we're heading outside to check the water temperature in the MGA swimming pool.  We'll be pausing our monthly newsletters until August.  If summer travel plans take you to an interesting place (either near or far from home), send us a photo (mga@missouri.edu) with a brief description of the image and where the photo was taken.  We'll publish some of the best images in the August newsletter...and may even send you some MGA goodies for your trouble!  Have a relaxing, fun, and geographically insightful summer!

Missouri Giant Traveling Map Reservations--2019

Due to the loss in National Geographic Society funding, Big Map rental fees have changed.  Non-profit organizations will be charged a flat fee of $125 to cover shipping (round-trip via FedEx) and handling.  Maps can still be picked-up and returned to our University of Missouri office for a handling fee of $25.  For-profit organizations should contact the MGA for pricing information.  Handling fees will be used to maintain the Big Maps and the variety of geography education tools included in the Big Map containers.  Maps can continue to be checked out for a two week period.

2019 reservations for MGA Giant Traveling Maps are now open.

This Month's Geographic Fun Fact
The Great Lakes are a significant geographic feature astride the U.S.-Canada border.  Of the five bodies of water, only Lake Michigan is located entirely in the United States.
