Haiti News and Summer Travels
May 2019

Dear Friends and Ministry Partners,

As the weather heats up in Haiti, the political climate remains on a rollercoaster, with new protests announced for Saturday against high inflation.  Things were very tense in February, but life has been pretty normal for us since then, except for very few visiting teams to bolster ongoing ministries.

We lost a couple of weeks of classes at the Bible School because of the insecurity, but I was able to finish teaching the Gospel of John, Intro to Hebrew, a youth ministry seminar and now I'm doing the Book of Acts until the end of June.
Normal life, except for Heather's foot!  She's four weeks into the long healing process of her 5th metatarsal which fractured while playing basketball.  This was just days before she directed the Good Friday children's musical, Amazing Grace.
Heather and her team gave a great performance!

Grace is what sets the Christian message apart from all other beliefs.  Romans 5:8 states, "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."  Jesus bore on the cross our sin, shame, guilt and weakness caused by our unbelief and disobedience.  This grace saves us when we trust Jesus to do the saving!
Last month we shared about our summer trip to Germany to minister to over 60 missionary kids at the World Team Europe conference.  Heather and I, Erik, Joey and Ellie will be part of the team for this six-day conference.  It's an expensive trip, but we have a deep conviction that God considers these MKs worth the money and effort.  Praise God that 60% of our support need has already been met.

World Team is looking for new missionaries in Haiti!

When I joined the Bible School faculty in 2009, I was one of three full-time missionaries there to complement the Haitian staff.  Now I'm the only full-time missionary professor, but we're teaching more students than ever!  World Team is looking for pastor-teachers called by God to share their lives and their knowledge with this vibrant work, as the Haitian church seeks to advance the Gospel within Haiti and beyond.
Cite Lumiere Christian School in Cayes, Haiti is looking for missionary school teachers for this coming school year.  World Team is one of the missions which supplies teachers for this 1st - 12th grade international school, where instruction is in English.
Over half of Haiti's population is under 21 years of age.  World Team's partner in Haiti, the MEBSH, has asked us to send them partners in youth and children's ministry.  In 2017 over 1600 children prayed to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior during the 200+ VBS programs in local churches.  The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few!

  • July 12-20 -- Sean in Suriname with two Haitian Bible professors
  • July 20-27 -- Sean in St. Lucia for the ECWI 50th anniversary celebration

Info for Prayer:
  • Ian finished his first year at CIU and he's working this summer for a friend of the family in PA doing house renovations.  He did very well his first year. Praise God!
  • Erik will be a senior this fall, so he's thinking about his future and about college.  Pray for God's direction.  He will take the ACT twice this summer.
  • Pray for our safe travels and for our effectiveness with the MK's in Germany.
  • Pray for Haiti--for leadership that "does justly, loves mercy and walks humbly with God" (Micah 6:8).
With love and thanks,

Sean, Heather, Ian, Erik, Joey and Ellie Christensen
