What's Happening...

Ms Paulette Brown
Congratulations to Ms. Brown on her retirement!  She will be missed and we wish her luck on the next chapter of life!  The children wrote well wishes to her and filled the "trophy" desk for her to remember them!  We love you Ms. Brown!

Teacher vs 8th Grade Volleyball Game
The St. Jude student body and faculty enjoyed the annual 8th grade vs. teacher volleyball game!  The 8th graders look forward to this competition all year in hopes of gaining bragging rights to their “all knowing” teachers!  For the 1st time in several years the 8th graders achieved victory!  The competition was neck and neck with each team winning 5 games.  Although the teachers tried their best, the 8th graders came out with the victory.   We are extremely proud of our 8th graders for their good sportsmanship, and great attitudes. Once again they have shown great leadership and set a good example for their younger peers at St. Jude. Great job to both teams!

St. Mary of the Woods
The 8th grade visited St. Mary of the Woods College, the oldest Catholic school in Indiana, last Friday.  St. Mary's was founded by St. Mother Theodore Guerin in 1840 as a school run by the Sisters of Providence, the same order of nuns who founded St. Jude.  Students were given the opportunity learn the history of the college, sit in contemplative prayer before the blessed sacrament, visit the shrine of St. Mother Theodore Guerin and her remains, share mass with the nuns, and even visit with alpacas!  They also toured the exterior grounds which include a replica of the original church and "Shell Chapel", built in thanksgiving for a safe return from France.  The kids had a great time!

6th Grade STEM
This week the 6th graders participated in a STEM project involving owl pellets.  Each student watched videos about barn owls and participated in a virtual dissection.  After learning about owls, each student dissected his/her own real pellet. They collected data from their findings and identified the bones. The students really enjoyed it!

Math Pentathlon
Congratulations to Jordan McLinn who competed in the Division 2 Math Pentathlon Tournament on Saturday, May 4th at Avon South Middle School. He received the Pentathlete Medal for winning two of his five matches. Great job Jordan!
