Concert Program
This year’s program will include a World Premiere by Alan Wild who is Majoring in Music Composition and a member of the guitar studio and Western Guitar Ensemble.
Alan has composed a quartet in one movement. It is a rhythmically exciting piece for the players as well as audience with meter alternating between 5/8 and then 5/8-3/8
Ensemble Director David Feingold’s "Serenade for the Deep State" is back this year as a Quartet.
The Quartet was featured to perform this piece last month at UW’s Brechemin Auditorium for the Northwest Guitar Festival Ensemble concert.
The program will also include music of: Bach, Hindemith, Gershwin and Joplin.
Funding the future students of guitar
Piper Carr (WWU 1992 Alum) has generously offered to gift an endowment to Western’s Department of Music. Piper has regularly spoken about the experience and benefit he got from his undergraduate years at WWU and his time in the Classical Guitar Studio.
Western’s Guitar Program is for some time now recognized as the top program in the state of Washington. Let’s preserve the legacy!
The Piper Carr Guitar Endowment will fund scholarship to students entering the Department of Music with a major in Guitar Performance. Maintaining a strong “performance” degree, by bringing in scholarship students raises the level for all students in the Guitar Studio, regardless of area: performance, Music Education or Theory and Composition as their actual major.
Join us on Give Day, May 30th, to see your gift to WWU Guitar go even further with Piper's very generous match!!
