Teacher & Team Corner
Ms. Hofmeister, 2nd Grade Teacher

This week’s spotlight is on Ms. Hofmeister. Ms. Hofmeister is one of Adaire’s most recent additions as she took over teaching second grade in room 103 this January when Mrs. Nicholas retired.

Ms. Hofmeister grew up in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia and went to Temple University where she studied Early Childhood Education and is currently completing a Master's Degree with a Reading Specialist Certification from Holy Family University. She’s been teaching for four years and has taught 1st, 2nd and 4th grade.

Being a “newbie” has not stopped Ms. Hofmeister from feeling the love at Adaire. “Since my first day in January, I have felt accepted by this school’s community. The staff pushes each other to be their best for their students each day. I feel incredible lucky to be able to teach at Adaire,” she says.

Ms. Hofmeister lives in the neighborhood with her boyfriend and her cat Luna. When she’s not at school, she enjoys spending time with friends and family or reading mystery novels on her couch or on the beach.

After five months at Adaire she says, “It is awesome to be able to work at a school where the people in the community want nothing but the best for the school and the students.”

Adaire Student Successes:

  • Congratulations to our four 4th graders who were accepted into special admit middle schools! We are sad to see you go, but VERY proud of your accomplishments! The lucky schools include Masterman, Science Leadership Academy & GAMP.  ALL THE BEST TO RISING 5TH GRADERS!

  • We are so proud of our graduating 8th grade class. Students will be entering some amazing special admit high schools this fall including Central, Palumbo, Franklin Learning Center, Bodine, Parkway Center City, Saul and CAPA! CONGRATULATIONS 8TH GRADERS!

Multicultural Day on Friday May 24th: 3 MORE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Led by Spanish Teacher, Mrs. Santiago, Adaire students will experience international cultures through food, arts & crafts and games from around the world.  Countries included in this year program include Italy, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Ethiopia and South Korea! The program will need support all day so we’ve broken the sign-up into two sessions---the morning and afternoon.  If you can and want to stay all day you are very welcome to do so! Sign-up here. Students were sent home with a permission slip to participate in the delicious tastings. Please complete the form and send it in as soon as possible.

Annual Community Update with Principal Jenkins on May 28th: Current families, incoming families, neighbors, and community partners please join Principal Jenkins at 6pm in the school auditorium for a very informative annual meeting where she'll review progress from the past year and look at next year’s plans. This update is extra special because Ms. Jenkins will also wrap up her initial five-year plan and present what she hopes to achieve in the next five years!  So many great accomplishments!

Public Service Announcements:

  • Returning students and teacher assignments: Students in 1st through 8th grade will find out who their teacher is on the first day of school. Please allow some extra time on Sept. 3rd to connect with the past year’s teacher and learn which classroom your child has been assigned to for the 2019/20 school year.

  • LOST and FOUND is once again overflowing.  Items will be held until June 4th and after the 4th, everything will be donated or disposed of.

  • KEEP KIDS AWAY FROM THE PARKING LOT.  Do not use the parking lot as a shortcut to drop off or pick up students. It’s dangerous and cars are moving.

Families of incoming Kindergarten students of Adaire:  Please join Saturday, June 8th, 10:30am at Penn Treaty Park for a simple gathering of faces so our children can become familiar with one another before entering school in the Fall.
