Hello everyone,

You're receiving this email because you have previously signed up for one of my newsletters (via my blog, The Domestic Man), signed on as a recipe tester for one of my previous cookbooks (The Ancestral Table or Paleo Takeout), or purchased one of my eBooks (The Safe Starch Cookbook or Deep Dish). Please pardon the intrusion; I don't plan on spamming your inbox, but I wanted to let you know of some recent developments related to my blog and books.

After several years of research, writing, and designing, I have finally released my third cookbook.  It’s called The Heritage Cookbook, and it combines genealogy (i.e. family tree) research and genetic testing with nutrition and cooking.  It is designed to help you discover your ancestry, and understand how your recent ancestor's eating habits could affect your health today.  The book is both a comprehensive dive into ancestral nutrition, food, and cultural histories, and a massive cookbook with 300+ traditional recipes from around the world.

Unfortunately, during the lengthy course of this book's development, I parted ways with my previous publisher.  My blog and social media were largely inactive while I focused on finishing the manuscript, and at this point I no longer have the means to find another publisher print and distribute the book with Amazon or in bookstores.  Rather than abandon the project outright, I instead decided to redesign everything into a digital edition, which is much easier to distribute thanks to today's digital age.  Luckily, friends and family also convinced me to try my hand at an exclusive, self-published print edition, since everyone loves a physical cookbook (more on that in a moment).

The digital version of The Heritage Cookbook is available for purchase today, with a variety of options.  The simplest option is a PDF version of the book, which can be enjoyed on any home computer, tablet, and/or smartphone.  If you prefer to read your books on Kindle or Apple Books, I created those versions as well.  I designed each version from the ground up, so they all look pretty great no matter which format you prefer.  All digital editions are $14.99 each.

The special print edition is also available for pre-order, and will ship in October 2019.  Think of it like crowdsourcing (a la Kickstarter or Indiegogo): you can purchase the hardcover book for a limited time (now until June 30th), and I will use the revenue from those purchases to place my print order through a small, US-based printing company.  Once the books are printed, I will fly to a warehouse and personally sign, number, and ship each book by hand.  There won't be an option to buy the book after this exclusive period: my family and I are moving back to Hawaii at the end of this year and won't be able to (affordably) take on another project like this in the near future.

I've thrown in a lot of perks for this physical edition to make it worth your while: shipping is included in the price, and it will come with an instant download link for the digital (PDF) version of the book, so you can enjoy the recipes immediately while you wait for your physical book.  This project is loaded with content: the final print edition will be over 750 pages long.  Additionally, the print edition will feature an exclusive color made from an original watercolor painting, and the book will be printed in sturdy hardcover format so that it will last for many years to come.

The hardcover book price is $60, and I have to limit shipping to US and military (APO) addresses only, but I am positive that the stunning hardcover copy and included perks (free shipping, digital edition included, signed and personalized) make this version truly special.  The minimum print order for the physical edition is 500 copies; we just reached 250 sales last night.  If you're interested in buying a copy of the hardcover book for yourself or a loved one, I encourage you to check out this page for more info: http://www.theheritagecookbook.com

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I hope that you're as excited about The Heritage Cookbook as I am.  It's truly the book I've been wanting to write my whole life.  During the course of its inception, I researched my own family history, discovered and met estranged relatives, and physically stood on some of my ancestral homelands for the first time.  I hope to provide you with the tools to make a similar journey, and to cook delicious food along the way.

Take care,
Russ Crandall

P.S. I've set up a page for frequently-asked questions related to the book, but do please reply to this email if you have any other questions.  I will likely send out one more reminder email before the sale ends on June 30th; if you'd prefer not to hear from me again, please follow the unsubscribe instructions below.
