General Grady News

End-of-year Schedule - All Classes

Last week of school!
Final exams for 9th, 10th and 11th graders are:

  • Monday 3B exam (see full-day schedule below)  
  • Tuesday ((1B/2B)
  • Wednesday 5/21 (1A/2A)
  • Thursday  5/22 (4B)
  • Friday 5/23  (3A/4A)
Remember that Monday's schedule will be adjusted, while Tuesday through Friday are half-days (dismissal at 12:30).
Monday schedule:
  • 1A  8:30 - 9:35
  • 2A  9:42 - 10:47
  • 3A: 10: 54- 11:59
  • 4A: 12:06 - 1:50 (1st & 2nd lunches are during this time - please do not drop off forgotten lunches. Send your child with a lunch or lunch money to purchase)
  • 3B EXAM: 1:57-3:30 - exam/testing environment - no early dismissals

Online Summer School

If you're looking to take an online class during the summer, AVA, our district's virtual school course offerings, and application are now available. See HERE for course offerings and HERE for an application. Registration ends May 31; classes begin on June 3 and will end on July 12. 
All applications must be submitted to your assigned counselor.

Commencement Information
  • General commencement information is available HERE and HERE (new rules!)
  • Parking will be difficult - APS will have shuttle buses for those who ride MARTA; drop-offs or taxi/Uber/Lyft is recommended.  Additional information will be forthcoming.
  • Only clear bags will be allowed at commencement - more info HERE

It's available in the main office - we have gray, white and black short sleeve tees with our Grady logo - $15. We also have Grady car magnets and Grady sling bags for $5. We take cash only in the main office - no credit cards. You can also purchase online HERE and pick up in the main office.

PTSA

Parking Lot Fundraiser - Volunteers Needed

Volunteers needed to help PTSA fund raise in the parking lots during the Atlanta Jazz Festival on Saturday, May 25th and Sunday May 26th.   The funds raised by GHS PTSA helps reduce the extra expenses incurred by GHS teachers, GHS school administration and the GHS school organization.
Parents, students, and teachers come and help collect fees and manage the lots (8th and Music parking lots).   Students get community hours.  Students if you are fundraising for an educational organization which is also fundraising during the Jazz Festival, please see the teacher so they know you are also volunteering that organization.  Please sign up using the below link.

Sweet Auburn Fundraiser

Celebrate the last week of school! Sweet Auburn BBQ will host the next Grady Cluster Spirit DAY (all day!) on Monday, May 20. It benefits the entire Grady Cluster! They give 15% of sales receipts placed in the Spirit Day jar back to the cluster.

CCC Founders Award Scholarship Recipients
Congratulations to the CCC Founders Award Scholarship recipients for 2019: Taylor Jackson and Selena Kleber! Taylor will be attending The College of Wooster, and Selena will be attending the University of North Carolina this fall. Both received a $500 scholarship for their essays outlining how they used the CCC in their college search. Congratulations, and thank you to everyone who applied!
 
CCC Closed for the Year
The CCC is now closed, but we look forward to seeing everyone in the fall! Rising seniors, you can get help with your college essay, even over the summer, by sending an email to cccessayhelp@gmail.com

Girls considering sorority recruitment may use this list (HERE) to find recommendation writers. Note that the recommendation writer does not need to have attended the university you are considering.
Look at the Greek Life website at your respective colleges and there will be a guide to what is required. Feel free to email Beth Downes with any questions.
 

O4W (Old Fourth Ward) 5K
