Dear <<First Name>>,

You are cordially invited to the conference, The struggle of Yazidi women, how to survive ongoing genocide, 1st of June 2019, 3-5pm , SOAS University of London, Thornhaugh Street, WC1H 0XG, Main Building, Lower Ground floor, Room KLT

In August 2014, ISIS invaded Shingal, homeland of the Yazidis in the Kurdish region of Iraq. Men, woman and children were murdered and abducted, children were orphaned and young women were captured as sex slaves and treated inhumanly. An estimated 360 000 people have became displaced. Some of them are still being held in captivity and some managed to escape their tormenters.

Today many of the survivors live in IDP camps throughout the Kurdish region of Iraq and refugee camps in Europe. Many without any hope for returning back to their homeland due to the abandonment of the world and an ongoing genocide.

Swedish medical surgeon and volunteer Dr. Nemam Ghafouri runs a medical health clinic in one of the IDP camps. She also works with the young women who come back from captivity. Join us for a seminar where Dr. Ghafouri speaks of how yezidi women fight everyday for survival , justice and finding their loved ones.

Come along to our conference on the 1st of June at SOAS University or forward this email onto someone who may be interested in attending.
