اِنّا ِلِلّهِ وَاِنّا اِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُوْنَ

The Passing of Luqman M. Hecimovich

It is with heavy hearts that we bring you the news that our dear brother, Luqman Hecimovich, passed away yesterday. Luqman was an active member of the Jamaat and had recently moved back to Wisconsin from Dayton, Ohio in order to be closer to his mother. Luqman was in a job training exercise yesterday and suffered a heart attack while swimming.

Luqman was a convert to Islam Ahmadiyyat. Born and raised as Lucas James Hecimovich as a Christian in Marinette, Wisconsin, he discovered Islam in 2002 as a freshman in high school. He soon converted to Islam Ahmadiyyat in 2006 and adopted the name Luqman Muhammad Hecimovich.

Luqman was an active Jamaat member. He could always be found in the mosque and was always quick to recommend a Jamaat book. This past November, during Huzoor's US visit, Luqman was blessed enough to do bai'at with his hand on Huzoor's hand, Alhamdulillah. (pictured above, directly across from Huzoor in the white hat).

Luqman wrote his story of how he found Islam in the compilation book, By the Dawns Early Light: Short Stories by American Converts to Islam. You can find his piece using the link below. We should all take a few minutes to remember his journey and appreciate his life.

"Surely, to Allah we belong and to him we shall return."

Please pray that brother Luqman is given mercy by Allah and is awarded a high place in heaven. InshAllah.
