Young writers, are you ready?

It’s time to sharpen your pencils, ready your pens and open your minds. The Tim Winton Award for Young Writers is back for its twenty-seventh year! Supported by Tim Winton, the award fosters creativity and imagination with an emphasis on the importance of storytelling.

The city is inviting all Western Australian school students, from years one to twelve, to submit an original story up to 2000 words in length. Entries will be judged on their originality, story development and writing quality by a panel of local authors, educators and librarians.

Entries open at 9.30am on Tuesday 4 June. Register your entry online and submit your story electronically or in person to Subiaco Library before entries close at 5.30pm on Monday 24 June. For award information visit the city's website.

Good luck young writers and let your imaginations run wild!
