From Mark McVeigh, Principal
Dear DBS Parents,
Ms Van Gil’s Y8 Shark Class provided one of the highlights of the year, with their stimulating assembly on the important issues of discrimination and the environment. The Y8 students were creative, articulate and witty: a true inspiration to the rest of the school.
This week, Ms Babb appointed Ambassadors of Science, and Mrs McVeigh launched the Denla Cares logo competition. There was a hugely positive EY2 assembly on kindness from Ms Hammond’s Bumblebee class and Ms Mushtaq’s Caterpillar class. It is so important that our students regularly consider how to be thoughtful and caring.
It was great to hear about the successes of our badminton teams on Tuesday, as they competed well in the GBAC tournament, with DBS being placed second overall. We are grateful to Mr Mann and Ms Pym for their expertise and support.
Finally, it was good to see many of you at Parent Time this afternoon, and to witness so much excellent work by your children. There is much parental engagement planned for next week, and may I recommend the Summer School Parent Information sessions on Friday morning: there is a wonderful range of activities on offer, with DBS teachers delivering an excellent programme in English.
Lisa joins me in sending you our very best wishes. We look forward to seeing you back at school on Tuesday next week.
