Mobile Phone Abstract Photography
Jeff Johnson
Master Photographer | Artist | Educator | Chief Instigator
You read it right! We are going to create some very unique and very fun abstract photographs with our mobile phones. This is a huge step away from reality and a big challenge to your creativity as we take everything we know about traditional photography and leave it in the car as we wander through the Plaza Mariachi. Using the décor, colors and flair of the Plaza we will be swirling, weaving, and waving our phones in midair as we create abstract art images (called Intentional Camera Movement (ICM)).
Really! I know this sounds . . . ok, weird, but it is so much fun as you will see.
First, I will show you how it is done. I will then share with you the many techniques and ideas I have come up with to create different and unique images. Then, I will share with you how I edit and enhance these stunning creations in Snapseed (free from the APP Store) for the phone & tablet and in Lightroom and Photoshop on the computer. All you need is to bring is your phone, fully charged, and a very open mind. We are going to have a lot of laughs and “ah-ha” moments as you challenge your creativity and each other.
If you have an iPhone, go to the APP Store and download Slow Shutter. It is $1.99. I’ll show you how we work it for best and easiest results! Android, Google and other phones have manual camera settings already built in. I will show you to best use these for this fun style of photography. If for some reason you cannot find an app to work, please feel free to bring your DSLR with a mid-range lens and I will show you this technique as well.
Bring your cell phone!
Please note there is a fee for this event.
