Message from DG Joe

.Each year at the Multiple District Convention, the District Governors nominate Lions to receive awards. Nominees from 39W this year include:
Helen Keller Humanitarian Award - Jared Walker, Kimberly Lions Club
W.F. Woods Civic Award - Richard Thurmond, Vale Lions Club
PID Floyd Miller Leadership Award - Mike Kreiter - Emmett Lions Club
PID Gary D'Orazio Heart of a Lion Award -  Bryce Yamamoto - Kuna Lions Club
Good luck to these nominees. Council Chair Dennis Burks will announced the winners at Sun Valley on May 25th, 2019. Thank you for your contribution to your Lions Clubs.

Let's continue to work on the membership campaign.

Fruitland Lions signature Chicken BBQ was held Saturday, May 11th. A recruitment table was set up for area Lions clubs. Fruitland and Payette Syringa Lions Clubs had a few sign ups of people interested in joining Lions. Several Lions from Payette Syringa attended assisted by Lions Betty Simpson, Kathy Donahue, Jim Spanberger, and Linda Clemenger from the District team.

We can work together to make our district and clubs stronger.

Thank you,
DG Joe

Add New Members in May/June

The new member Service Grant has been extended through June 30th. Clubs that add new members can apply for a Service Grant from Lions Clubs International. For each new member, a club can receive $35 to be used to plan activities that engage the new members in service. Perhaps those new members can plan and implement a service activity they are passionate about. For ideas on recruiting, LCI offers several tips at this link.

Multiple District Convention

The Multiple District Convention will be held at Sun Valley on May 24-26. Past International. President Wayne Madden will be the featured guest. The convention theme is "Honoring our Heroes" and a guest speaker from Mountain Home Air Force Base is scheduled. Lions attending will be able to participate in two hands-on service projects-making no-sew quilts for children with cancer and painting friendship rocks to share positive messages. Please see attached registration and the district website for the tentative agenda.

Diabetes Awareness and Camp Hodia

Idaho Diabetes Youth Programs (Camp Hodia) is teaming up with the Lions! Camp Hodia is applying for a grant from Lions Clubs International Foundation to help all kids go to camp regardless of their ability to pay. Camp Hodia will help Lions promote diabetes awareness programs in our communities. Show your support for this partnership and the mission of Camp Hodia, add your name (and your clubs's name) by following this link. (There's no cost of obligation to add your name!)

Tech World - More MyLion

MyLion is for all Lions! (Have I said that already?) At this point in time, we especially need new club and district officers to sign up and become familiar with the MyLion website and/or app. This is how all activities will be reported starting July 1. LCI is hosting webinars to help Lions with reporting. Use this link to sign up for the webinar: "How to Use MyLion to Support Your Service". There are several dates and times to choose from. This webinar will show you how to add an upcoming activity and report a completed activity.

Notes from the editor

If you are a club secretary or president, it's your responsibility to share the newsletter with your club-the mailing list does not, unfortunately, include everyone.
If you are not on the mailing list and want to be added, use the subscribe link or contact me directly. Snail mail available on request.
If you have club events, news, photos, speakers, projects to share, please send to me or to your zone chair for publication. Have a flyer? Send that, too. I can't make up enough stuff to fill the newsletter, although I try.
Publication is the 10th; deadline to submit news is flexible, but end of the month is preferred.
Comments, suggestions, complaints-always welcome!
