Baypath Humane Society: Sophie and Beau looking for a home

Sophie and Beau are the sweetest little pair who are seeking a home together. You can't help but fall in love with these gentle souls. They adore new people and get along well with other dogs. Sophie is a clown whose antics will keep you laughing. She will leap up into your lap when you are sitting in a chair. When she’s extra happy she’ll “flip back her hair” and preen like a supermodel.

Beau is a sensitive boy who finds comfort in spending time with his big sister or the people around him. You’ll often find these cuties burrowed under the covers in a big dog bed for a long afternoon nap. They have a playful side too, and like to run around and chase toys together.

We’re seeking a quiet, peaceful home with adults or older (13+) gentle children due to the dogs’ sensitive nature. They’ve lived well with other dogs, but haven’t had exposure to cats yet. Sophie and Beau are about seven years old, and have spent much of their time inside. It would be ideal for them to have a small fenced-in yard. They will need help with house training and leash walking, so will need a kind, patient person who can provide plenty of praise and help getting them on the right track. You will be rewarded with endless cuddles!

Sophie and Beau aren’t at the shelter so please contact Julie at jwakstein@baypathhumane.org to learn more about these adorable siblings!

Editorial: Endorsing Mary Jo LaFreniere for Select Board

Mary Jo LaFreniere served as District Coordinator in my Senate Office, Representing Hopkinton for 10 years. During that time, she exhibited, exquisitely, all the leadership qualities needed to be one of Hopkinton’s most effective Selectmen ever: she is organized, committed, energetic, intelligent, collaborative and enormously personable, even in stressful situations. Her “marathon” service to Hopkinton is legendary. Throughout all of the challenging situations she faced as the Senate District Director, she was always friendly, collaborative and professional. I strongly believe that Hopkinton could not be better served than to elect Mary Jo Lafreniere to serve as their next Selectman.

The Corbett Family Summer Kick-Off Concert featuring the band BlondeDog will take place on Friday, June 14 outdoors at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts.

Music starts at 7 p.m. The Uhlman’s Ice Cream truck and face painting with Christine Z. will be available from 6 to 8 p.m. Families are welcome to bring their own picnic and a blanket or chairs for their comfort. Concert is free and open to the public. The 2019 Summer Kick-Off Concert is generously sponsored in part by Eversource and the Corbett Family. For more information, visit www.HopArtsCenter.org/summerconcert.

This annual summer concert is held every year in honor of Barbara Corbett Dobson and Dave Dobson. Their family could think of no better way to honor them than by holding a free summer music event that can be enjoyed by the entire community. Please consider making a donation to The Barbara Corbett Dobson and Dave Dobson Memorial Fund at the HCA to help continue this wonderful summer event.

The Hopkinton Center for the Arts offers arts to all people. Classes, productions, and exhibitions serve an inclusive community of students, performers, and exhibiting artists diverse in age, ability, experience, ethnicity, and geography.

In the visual arts, theater, music, and dance, HCA annually offers over 200 classes to more than 1,000 students, from preschool to seniors, drawn from more than 40 neighboring cities and towns. In 2015 the HCA opened its new arts center, with newly renovated classrooms, a new 200-seat performance space, and new gallery spaces. The Delbridge Family Performance Space and the Lotvin Family Gallery annually present dozens of productions and exhibitions.
