"For whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved” Romans 10:13.

Jerrod Songy shares his thoughts on the Keene Church Resurrection Pageant.

Just a few weeks ago in our small Christian community of Keene, TX we came together as a group of Seventh-day Adventists to shared the story of Christ's life, death, and resurrection through our annual Resurrection Pageant. This Pageant involves hundreds of volunteers, logging dozens of hours of preparation and service to make it possible for 3,000-5,000 people to witness the story of redemption in a live drama/play format. In this way many individuals that would perhaps not otherwise step onto a Christian campus, or enter a church, actually do so! I truly believe it is by the Holy Spirit pulling at heart strings and convicting minds that the crowds are gathered to witness the re-enactment of Christ's great love and sacrifice.

I can clearly see God at work in this experience, but the biggest miracle perhaps is not that people would come out to see and hear Jesus' story... What truly amazes me, is rather how BIG a part we, who already know Christ, play in the sharing and spreading of the Gospel message. When's the last time you took a moment to think about how you communicate God's saving grace to others, or how you might invite someone to call upon the name of the Lord to be saved? Have you re-told the story of Jesus to a co-worker, friend, or stranger recently?

We read and know from Scripture that our God is Omnipotent, over all creation, so He really doesn't need our service, our resources, or our efforts, as if He lacked in some area that we should step up to help Him. No, our all powerful God can do all things, which means He could proclaim the message of His Son all by Himself, or via the Angels. Here then is the miracle that struck me during the Pageant, and it's one of the most humbling honors, to understand that for God's own reasons, He actually wants to work with us, and through us to reach new souls for the kingdom! Do you believe that!?

Again, God has the ability to use angels, dreams, visions, direct communication, signs, wonders, and probably even options that I can't think of or imagine, but more often than not God simply chooses YOU. He simply chooses ME. In the world we live today, it can seem pretty dark at times, with toxic stress, anxiety, pain, suffering, and the worst-death. I imagine we all have family, friends, and people whom we love, also hoping to share eternity with, and for that reason it really is important to be sharing Christ's story, with His invitation to Salvation, as far and wide as possible.

We know that we are imperfect human beings, in desperate need of our Savior's cleansing blood day-in and day-out, and yet He is able to take our imperfections to make His works perfectly manifested and communicate the Gospel message! For me, that's a bigger miracle than Christ drawing people to Himself. Don't get me wrong, when people come to Christ that is always a miracle, but the fact that Christ would use me, and use you, as a "middle-man" to bring someone into a saving relationship with Himself... that's truly miraculous.

As Romans 10 continues "14 How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? 15 How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, 'How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!'" God doesn't necessarily need to, but he wants to use each of us to be those "beautiful feet that bear good news."

So whether your "handing out" loving smiles in the grocery store, teaching a Sabbath school class to children or adults, baking bread for your neighbors, studying the Bible with a new believer, re-telling the story of Christ's life on this earth, or anything else really, God has GREAT plans for you to share the gospel to all ends of the earth! So I pray that God may renew in us all a sense of urgency for the spreading of His Good News, and may He encourage you with the humble understanding that YOU are an irreplaceable part of His plans for reaching this world and preparing others for the world to come.
