Oakland Public Ethics Commissioner Nayeli Maxson will speak about Money In Politics: The Link Between Campaign Finance Reform and Voter Participation
Come explore new ideas about how public finance reform in Oakland can change the equation around money in politics and increase voter participation in the electoral process. Invite your neighbors and friends to learn about some exciting proposals now being considered by Oakland's Public Ethics Commission.

Round table discussion of Oakland campaign finance reform proposals
Jodie Smith and Jonathan Stein, current and past Chairs of the Oakland Public Ethics Commission, will help us better understand how the City could redesign its campaign finance laws to expand community participation and equity in the campaign process and reduce the influence of big money in politics. Proposals currently before the PEC might go far toward creating a better system of campaign finance laws and activities that would allow every Oakland voice to be heard and valued as part of the candidate campaign process.
