End of May means summer break is coming! To quote Vincent Damon Furnier (Alice Cooper) "School's Out for Summer!" But before you lock the door and cut the lights off the last time, here are a few things we wanted to share.
Ask to Go NOW!
Go ahead and ask your CTE administrators or school administrators about going to our conference next school year! Your county receives Perkins Funds to send instructors to conferences. Might as well be you!
This year we are joining up with ACTE at their national conference. It is in beautiful Anaheim, California. ACTE & LAPSEN - sort of like the gems in the Infinity Gauntlet (but half the universe won't die).
Are you moving next year? New hire in LPSCS in your building? Please let us know! We would like to keep our databases updated so we can continue to serve you! Please email me at washburnt@fultonschools.org and tell me what changes are about! If you are leaving LPSCS education, remember what that guy Journey said, "Don't stop believing!" We'll miss you!
Summer Checklist
Looking for ideas for summer learning? Here are some ideas from my list:
Learn more about using the Google suite. If you aren't using Google Drive with Docs, Slides, and Forms then you are missing out! I learn new things every time search for tips. I watch instructional videos on Youtube.
Learn how to use Google Classroom. I started playing around with it this year and it is AWESOME. The kids love it!
Read anything on Standards Based Grading. I know I am an nerd - but this is a really cool approach to how we assess our kids. It is a perfect fit for our classrooms!
Binge watch Bosch, The Shield, The Wire, early seasons of CSI and Law & Order, Dexter, Third Watch, Chicago Fire and of course The Office (best CPR scene in TV history).
