Hello from Washington!

No one likes waiting for things in life. Sometimes people get extremely impatient and take things into their own hands, and nine times out of ten it doesn’t go as they had hoped that it would. Even those that are patient are often complaining that things do not work out as they hoped or as fast as they hoped. Believers often joke saying “Don’t pray for patience because God will make you be patient instead of just giving it to you.” However, throughout scripture we are told that Christians are to be patient in affliction and love and life. That is really hard to do as you wait for the answer to that prayer, or for that wisdom that God said He would give. But in those moments that I get so fed up with the lack of change and answers, I am reminded that God is still working in and through me and He has an answer that I couldn’t even imagine. He has that answer that I want, and He is allowing me to become more like Him in my waiting.

David was able to go on a night flight as part of the Private Pilot curriculum.
David and Kirsten and Bear celebrating Easter together!
Right now Kirsten and I are both busy bees in life! With Kirsten's work and David's school there is very little time to do life outside of those things. The past couple of months have been an exercise in being faithful in the midst of a busy schedule. Because of all of this, we are both just trying to keep up with the pace that life is setting right now and have short snippets of free time here and there. However, this doesn't mean that nothing else is happening. For instance, we recently got good news from our church! For the past 15 months we have been trying to find a new pastor of family ministries and a month ago our new pastor and his family started the position of outreach and family ministries! The Lord is faithful to give us what we need, even if it takes longer than we had hoped.
We had the privilege to go flying after I got my Private Pilot certificate
I (David) am in the middle of my third to last semester. From early January through mid February we did some Biblical classes and special classes to help us on the mission field. We got to go camping in a foot and a half of snow and 8 degree weather, which I thought was actually a ton of fun and a great challenge. After that we began taking ground school for our Commercial Pilots licenses and began flying as much as we could. I recently took the checkride for my Private Pilots license, and passed first try with flying colors! I have now moved onto bigger faster and more complicated airplanes. It has been a neat challenge to learn new things since each plane can be drastically different from each other. In the coming months we will be doing a variety of flights, some of which will take us up to 3 hours away from Spokane!  I have also had the privilege to lead one of four worship teams that play weekly for chapel at Moody. It has been fun to get to know some of the first year students and use my musical skill in worship again!
Right now, I (Kirsten) am currently working as well as taking online classes through Moody Bible Institute Distance Learning. Life is extremely busy with school, work, and puppy training our newest addition to our little family, Bear! I have also decided that before I continue with Moody Aviation, I would like to continue to pray for direction as well as take flight lessons during the summer. David and I are praying that the Lord would give us clear direction for my future in the field and what that will look like. If we do feel strongly about finishing my bachelors degree at Moody, I will plan to return to school this October. We are unsure how we will come up with the finances in order to send me back to school, but we are confident that if it is the Lord's will, He will provide for our every need. We are also excited to be going home at the end of June in order to visit with churches and reconnect with friends! Please contact us if you would like to go out for lunch or coffee while we are in town! Thank you all for your love and support as we continue to follow and trust the lord!
Prayer Requests:
  • That God would be guiding our next steps as David finishes at Moody and we determine where God wants us next.
  • That Kirsten would be able to get more day shifts and be able to spend more evenings at home
  • That David would be able to continue to fly on a regular basis and get the flights that he needs to get done by the end of the semester.
With love,
David and Kirsten
