As an investment to groom and produce world-class local talent, Microsoft has announced the launch of the Microsoft Development Centre in Africa, with initial sites in Kenya and Nigeria. The tech giant aims to make the Africa Development Centre (ADC) a premier centre of Microsoft's engineering, where talented African engineers will create innovative solutions for global impact. This will open up more opportunities for Africans in tech to work with and learn from the best. Read more here.


+ The Microsoft Africa Development Centre is also seeking local engineering talent to build solutions in AI, Machine Learning, and Mixed Reality, and will be hiring up to 500 local engineers to staff the ADC. If you would like to be a part of the initiative, head over here.

+ Atom 1.37 has been released. The new version packs in-editor pull request review comments, a performance boost for fuzzy-finder, improvements to the language package, and more. Check out the release notes to find out more.

+ Laravel 5.8.17 has been released, and it comes with "Tappable" Trait, support for multiple column argument, and more. Read more about the release.

+ Rust 1.34.2 has been released. Improvements and fixes have been made to the last stable version and vulnerabilities found in it. Read more here.

+ Techpoint Africa's annual tech conference, Techpoint Inspired, is set to hold on Saturday, the 1st of June 2019. The conference aims to look at and discuss the dynamics, growth, and active role of tech in Africa's advancement. Registration for the conference has begun, and tickets are available. PyCon Africa has announced the opening of its Call For Proposals ahead of its 2019 event. If you have some greatness to share in the form of a Python-related project or practice,
