Volunteers’ Week 1-7 June is a UK wide campaign now in its 35thyear!   It’s a time to celebrate the wonderful contribution which volunteers make to so many charities and communities. During the Week, hundreds of organisations will thank and recognise their own volunteers – from trustees to carers, sports coaches to volunteer drivers – they all make a huge difference!  In Northern Ireland, Volunteer Now takes the lead in promoting and encouraging volunteer involving organisations to get involved and our partners include NCVO (England), Volunteer Scotland and WCVA (Wales). Volunteer Now has a range of merchandise available to help groups in Northern Ireland to celebrate the Week. Banners, branded balloons and DIY Bunting are available for collection from various locations – contact: Sandra on 028 9023 2020 or email sandra.faulkner@volunteernow.co.uk.

Download our Volunteers’ Week Resource Pack HERE

or visit the National Volunteers’ Week site: www.volunteersweek.org

We are also asking organisations to share their stories, activities and pics with us on social media and to use #VolunteersWeek

Fraud warning for the sector

NICVA have had a report via DfC (Neighbourhood Renewal team) regarding a fraud involving an organisation being asked to refund a payment to BT via their online banking facility.  PSNI have advised that the fraudsters may target other organisations with the same scam. Please remember that financial institutions, utility companies, law enforcement, HMRC, internet & telecoms providers or other public bodies will never ask for transfers of this nature. General advice is never to respond to this type of phone call, but to authenticate the source.

For more info on scams checkout the PSNI ScamwiseNI partnership's Little Book of Big Scams or join Scamwise on their Facebook page for their live Q&A event this Thursday evening from 6.30pm until 8pm.
