What our members said and did this week:
David:
David brought attention to the desperate need for a modern emergency department at the Chalmers Hospital. David urged the Premier to commit to restoring the integrity of our public health system as the best institution to develop and implement a science-based strategy to rebuild the level of vaccination that is needed in our province to protect New Brunswickers.
As talks broke down with the nursing home workers, David once again urged the government to move to binding arbitration.
This week, David added another 398 names to the petition outlining concrete actions the government can take to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Kevin:
Kevin made a statement that we should implement a universal child care program, pay equity in the private sector, and equitable representation of women in the Legislative Assembly to really celebrate Mother's Day.
Kevin questioned what the government is doing to help paramedics, as there is still no news on better wages, working conditions, or reclassification.
In light of the recent news that NB communities are losing fishing licenses, Kevin made a statement calling for both fishing and processing licenses to be anchored in our communities.
Megan:
When Megan asked the Premier climate change questions, he let his Minister of Environment respond who had no answers on the IPCC report and electric vehicles and instead turned to personal attacks.
In light of the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia, Megan made a statement acknowledging the systemic problems that impact this community and called on all members to support her motion to ban conversion therapy.
Megan, once again, expressed her disappointment in the government for cutting free tuition stating that we need to work towards making post-secondary a seamless part of our public education system through universal free tuition.
These are only some of the highlights from the week. For more, find David, Kevin, & Megan on social media or see all the videos on our YouTube Channel: Green Caucus Vert.
