NOTICE OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

OF THE

NEW ZEALAND WATER SKI RACING ASSOCIATION INCORPORATED
 

The annual general meeting of the New Zealand Water Ski Racing Association Incorporated will be held at 11am on Saturday the 22nd day of June 2019 at Ferrybank, Grantham Street, Hamilton.
 
The ordinary business to be conducted at the annual general meeting is to—
(a) receive proxies
(b) confirm the minutes of the previous annual general meeting and of any general meeting held since that meeting
(c) receive from the Committees reports upon the transactions of the Association during the last preceding financial year
(d) elect:
     (i) officers of the Association (President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary)
     (ii) four ordinary members to the Executive Committee, one of whom shall be under the age of 19
     (iii) four ordinary members to the Management Committee
     (iv) the Technical Rules Committee members
     (v) the Selectors
(e) set the fees payable by competitors;
(f) receive / consider the statement submitted by the Association in accordance with section 23 of the Act;
(g) appoint accountants to prepare the financial statements of the Association; and
(h) appoint auditors to audit the financial statements of the Association.
 
The minutes of the previous meeting and some Committee reports may be made available prior to the AGM.  If so, members will be notified accordingly.

All members are invited to attend the annual general meeting.  Only those financial members 16 years of age and over are eligible to vote at the annual general meeting.
 
Your attention is drawn to clause 30 of the Rules of the Association which states:

Election of Officers and Committee members

(1)          Nominations of candidates for election as officers of the Association and Committee members must be—
(a)          made in writing, signed by two members of the Association and accompanied by the written consent of the candidate (which may be endorsed on the form of nomination) and delivered to the Secretary of the Association not less than 7 days before the date fixed for the holding of the annual general meeting; or
(b)          a member may email the Secretary nominating a candidate, such email to be copied to the candidate and to another member (as seconder) both of whom must, not less than 7 days before the date fixed for the holding of the annual general meeting consent to the nomination / second the nomination..
(2)          If insufficient nominations are received to fill all vacancies on any committee, the candidates nominated shall be deemed to be elected and further nominations may be received at the annual general meeting.
(3)          If the number of nominations received is equal to the number of vacancies to be filled, the persons nominated shall be deemed to be elected.
(4)          If the number of nominations exceeds the number of vacancies to be filled, a ballot must be held.
(5)          The ballot for the election of officers or Committee members must be conducted at the annual general meeting in such manner as the presiding member may direct.
(6)          Officers and Committee Members elected at an annual general meeting take office from the conclusion of the meeting.
(7)          One member may be a member of multiple Committees.
 

Management Committee Meeting

 
The Management Committee will meet at 1pm (or as soon thereafter as reasonably practicable) on Saturday the 22nd day of June 2019 at Ferrybank, Grantham Street, Hamilton.
 
All members are welcome (and encouraged) to attend the Management Committee Meeting.
 
The Management Committee plan the coming season and allocate many of the various tasks required during the year.

NOTE:

We need at least 25%of members (who are eligible to vote) to attend the AGM.  In the past few years we have only just managed to form a quorum - over 70% seem content to let less than 30% do the work.  If you want to race next season the single most important thing you can do is turn up to the AGM.

Prize Giving


The Prize Giving will be held at Ferrybank, 7pm on the 22nd  of June.   Prizegiving cost, theme and other information will be confirmed in the next week or so - payment for this event will be collected on the door. The NZWSRA is subsidising the cost of the event and we will be having canapes served throughout the night so please turn up with cash and make things easy for us.
