The Weekend Theater

Auditions for the play "Between Riverside and Crazy" on Sat, June 1, at 10 a.m. and on Sun, June 2, at 6 p.m. at The Weekend Theater.

Show dates are July 26-Aug. 11, 2019, and rehearsals start June 15. Michael Scott will direct.

The play, by Stephen Adly Guirgus, tells the story of widower and retired New York City police officer Walter “Pops” Washington who opens his rent-controlled apartment on Riverside Drive in New York City to his recently paroled son Junior, Junior’s sunny and confused girlfriend Lulu, and recovering addict, Oswaldo. This razor-sharp comedy explores the themes of race, pride, blame, and gun violence that swirl around this cobbled-together family as Walter’s former partner, Det. Audrey O’Connor, and her fiancé, Lt. Caro, try to persuade Pops to settle his lawsuit against the New York City Police Department for the shooting that left him disabled.

Auditions will consist of cold reads. Must be 18 or older to audition.
