Know Your Limits...by Exceeding ThemWhen it comes to art, most of us are afraid to “push our limits”. We are safe in our zone of familiarity, in our “wheelhouse”.
We can do what we are good at all day and night. When it comes to trying something new we get afraid; mostly of criticism.
My father often told me, “Son, you gotta know your limits”. To this I replied, “How will I know them unless I go past them?”
In trying something new artistically I’d like to encourage you to go past your limits or your comfort zone. See if you feel bad or good about it. If you feel bad you may have really discovered one of your limits; a place you don’t want to go again. If you feel good, then you have just expanded your range of your talent.
