A Word from the President

The 9th EORNA congress took place last May 16-19 in the beautiful city of The Hague.
The theme was “On the Move”. With this title we indicated that our profession is constantly moving forward to enhance perioperative care and to ensure patient safety in operating theaters. It has been a very dynamic congress and it was a great pleasure to welcome 1100 attendees coming from 40 countries worldwide to share their knowledge and experience. The scientific program allowed attendees to find a wide range of innovative and interesting topics, with oral presentations, poster sessions and workshops. We learned a lot about new technologies and new products from our industry partners.

The 9th European Operating Room Nurses Association Congress took place from 16 - 19 May, 2019 in The Hague, The Netherlands. Over 1,100 delegates joined the Congress to discuss several topics on the standards of perioperative patient care.
|
|
|
The Congress programme included Priority Sessions held by some top speakers, Parallel Sessions and Company Workshops. Some new features were introduced such as Hands-on Sessions in the Simulation Centre as well as Round Table sessions in the morning - both with a great success.
|
|
|
The exhibition floor was sold out and we have got very happy exhibitors and sponsors as the floor was frequently well visited.
|
|
|
Also the Congress Charity Run was a big success: almost 30 people participated in the run and the registration fee was donated to the Juliana’s Children Hospital in The Hague.
|
|
|
|
The Congress Dinner was a special highlight of congress. It took place in the amazing park of Madurodam, a small city full of beautiful miniatures, which represents the Netherlands!
Attendees were very happy about the dinner, the place, the music and the cheerflul atmosphere.

|
|
A big thanks to Henk Folkertsma and Jeanine Stuart, our hosts during this amazing Congress in The Hague! Thank you also to our presenters, poster presenters, volunteers, exhibitors and sponsors... and to all our attendees from all over the world.

During the opening ceremony, representatives of each national association stepped onto the stage proudly waving their country's colours!
At the closing ceremony, EORNA representatives took the opportunity to unveil the association's new logo!

The 10th EORNA Congress will take place in Stavanger, Norway, from May 27 - 30, 2021!

AFISO is very glad to announce that we passed the first step to have somes acts reserved only for the specialist nurses in perioperative field.
|
|
The Belgian nursing commission (depending of the ministry of health) voted the agrement about that. The project of law is published on the website of the ministry of health. The second step will be the signature by minister of health and we hope that she will do that as soon as possible. AFISO organised a symposium to celebrate the perioperative nursing day on the 15th of February. It was a big succes !!

AFISO organised also its annual congress in Mons on the 23rd of March. The theme was : "To flourish in the operating room: Yes, I want it. Yes, I can". It was also the time for AFISO annual general assembly and elections for the board.
A CPD day for the OR head nurses was also planned on the 4th of May. The theme was : "How to communicate in the right way?" . It was a real succes.

AEEQ have celebrated in March 2019 the annual Congress in Mérida, Spain, with the participation of May Karam in the Opening Act.

AEEQ convened the first investigation Award: “Innovation in Safety of the surgical patient“
The objective of this award is stimulate research among nursing professionals in the area of Patient Safety and contribute to the development of scientific innovation, promoting safety and quality in the perioperative process.

AEEQ has joined the national group Nursing Now committed to help give visibility to Nursing to get the levels of influence that the profession deserves.
The main objective of this campaign is to improve the profile of nursing professionals, giving maximum visibility to the profession and creating training offering that allows the Nursing to be actively involved in leadership programs and future development policies that allow to advance in health to achieve excellence of the care of.

Valencia celebrates the 16th Journeys of Surgical Nursing of the Valencian Community on the 7th June.
The scientific program addressed topics such as risks in the Surgical Area, New Technologies in the Surgical Area, Nursing Research, as well as skills profile and job access to the surgical area.
|
|
|
|
For over 27 years the primal purpose of our association MMT has been the validation of the professional interests and professional ambitions of theatre nurses. Our activity includes education, interrogation and specialized duties.
|
|
|
|
Every year we organise our National Congress, regional, professional trainings and scientific conventions.
The current biggest problem in our country is the scarce number of operating theatre nurses and that their avarage ages range between 45-50 years. Our cardinal challenge is making the theatre nurse’s profession attractive to young people thus providing reinforcement in this specialized field of work.

This year our 27th National Congress will be held in Hajduszoboszló, from 10 to 12 October 2019. The eastern Hungarian town of Hajduszoboszló has long been one of the most popular touristic destinations of Hungary. The region’s Hajduszoboszló offers the largest bath&spa complex in Europe.
|
|
|
|
The scientific programme will offer to delegates a wide range of innovative and interesting topics, through oral presentations and workshops. The majestic place of Congress offer health and recreation.
