There Is Not A Metaphor That Can Contain...

Ya know, we noticed nature’s been making its case lately. Powder pink azaleas pushing through inner permafrost, blooming into blues and greens under the glower. Spring is all about new life blossoming from its icy chrysalis, just as June is full of the same for every Funnybone flower.

Our June mix highlights new tracks and ones to keep them company as we keep growing, all at the center of Taylor Pelella’s curated carnation.

This one’s even got a digital a-side and b-side. Listen on Spotify here

Bebé Machete Announces Album, Slots New Single

We are thrilled to announce Bebé Machete’s new album There Is Not a Metaphor That Can Contain is out June 30th. The eight-track endeavor places ancestral rhythms and modes of resistance into a contemporary experimental-pop context that blends salsa, hip hop and found sounds. We’ll be opening up pre-orders soon, but in the meantime, you can hear the triptych “Ghazal,” which Autostraddle hails as “a bilingual masterpiece of boundlessness and invention.”

To tide you over until the 30th, we’ll be sharing another single “Craft / a Fracture” on June 15th. Delve into chaos in its most pearly state through pitch-shifts, warbly/rich synths, and airtight syncopation.

waveform* Featured in NAMI Benefit Compilation

We're humbled to share waveform* is featured alongside Fog Lake, Field Medic, Ricky Eat Acid, Gia Margaret and more on a truly incredible compilation called Running from the Dark.

In honor of mental health awareness month, each track was graciously donated by the artists and many include personal explorations of mental health.

All proceeds from this compilation will be donated to the National Alliance on Mental Illness. NAMI is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.

Glambat and Snowpiler Release Split

Glambat and Snowpiler’s new split EP, I Feel God In This Chili’s Tonight is not just a compilation; it’s a conversation. The two perfectly interlace; Snowpiler’s mellow math rock out of Monroe complements Glambat’s eager New Haven based gaze-pop stories with rich instrumental breaks.

Tracks “Andy,” “Brasil,” and “Cole Gate” have all been reworked for this album and will give Glambat fans a sense of familiarity, whereas Snowpiler’s wholly new songs breathe fresh spring air, sweeping in and out of Glambat’s melodic soul-bearing.

Few copies of the CD remain online, and they’re really beautiful thanks to Anna Neville’s design work. Order here or pick one up at Redscroll Records!

Thanks to CT Scramble’s Dan Osto for including the split’s lead single “Brasil” in their April Recap AND May Recap playlists.

Hear Greetings’ Hazy New Single “Untitled One”

Greetings have shared their swelling new single “Untitled One” to follow May’s hypnotic “K.I.E.” single and video.

The vigilant CT Verses writes, ”Daniel Fondue (née Carr) is at it again, folks. Last month, his project greetings dropped ‘K.I.E.’, with its cool, shimmering beats and altered states of consciousness. This week, Greetings shared ‘Untitled One (feat. Maebe)’, and while it is a stylistic curveball (this one gets close to being psych-folk at times if you can believe it!), it still feels very much like a Greetings song. It’s hazy and intangible, just like the wind."

Our fingers are crossed for rain on June 12; Donnie Alexzander will be releasing a new cover that begs for it. It’ll be the first offering since last July’s Little Miss Drift Afloat, but we’ll have to wait for the clouds to roll in before shedding a little darkness as to exactly what’s hidden within.
