New Residentiary Canon in the Cathedral


The Revd Dr Stephen Edwards will join the Cathedral Chapter with a particular responsibility for promoting the Cathedral’s mission in the Diocese and local community, and for the pastoral care and spiritual nurture of the Cathedral community. Stephen is currently Team Rector of Wythenshawe and Area Dean of Withington in the Diocese of Manchester. Stephen’s appointment will take effect on Sunday 15 September when he will be installed at Evensong at 4 pm.

Rowing for Holland House


Bishop Robert Paterson and Ian Spencer will once again be taking to the water to raise money for diocesan retreat house, Holland House. On 1 August they will launch from Stratford upon Avon at 8.30am, hopefully reaching Holland House at 5pm where there will be a party!

New training dates have been posted on the Diocesan website for those needing to renew C3 training – this can now be done by attending the new C5 Refresher module. All clergy or licensed workers will need to book on as soon as possible if you have not attended a training course in the last three years. Find out more

  • We are looking at how we might change the prayer diary to reduce the cost. Please let us know how you use it by filling in this survey. 
  • St Helen's, Worcester is hosting a dementia awareness workshop on Friday 7 June, midday - 1pm. All are welcome.
  • A year after its launch, The Church of England’s award-winning Alexa skill has been asked more than 75,000 questions! The smart speaker skill was originally launched with prayers, explanations of the Christian faith and details of where to find the nearest church for local events and services based on location.   • Developers have been working on some exciting updates to A Church Near You. If you are an editor of your church's ACNY page, you'll be updated soon on all the work that has taken place!
  • Between 1 September and 4 October, the Church of England will be marking the Season of Creation. This website has a number of liturgical and prayer resources and a new choral setting has been commissioned by the Church of England’s Environmental Working Group. Choirs are invited to consider programming the piece for services. Sheet music in a number of different arrangements, along with a recording of the premiere, is available from the St Bride’s website.
  • St Peter’s Cradley are looking for a set of chasubles, please contact Katryn Leclézio if you can help.
  • Our Diocese has declared its intention to become an Eco Diocese.  Parliament has declared a Climate Emergency.  Now local groups are planning to attend a mass lobby of parliament on 26 June.  Arranged by the Climate Coalition which includes Christian Aid, Tear Fund and Cafod,  the lobby aims to make sure that good-sounding words get translated into serious government action to protect God's earth. To register, find out about organising your own group, arranging transport and how to lobby your MP, visit the website
  • Anyone who has suffered the loss of a baby at any stage is invited to come together with other bereaved families for  an opportunity to remember at Trinity Methodist Church in Kidderminster on Saturday 8 June, 2.30pm. More information.
  • St Peter's Arts Church in Malvern is holding its inaugural Arts Festival 14-22 June with a range of acts including Indie pop artist and Greenbelt headliner Mister Keith. Find out more.

The Spiritual Direction Network in Worcestershire has an open invitation to this morning led by Bishop Graham. The meeting is for anyone who is involved in the work of accompanying and listening to others on their spiritual journeys, whether they call this work spiritual direction or use some other name. Funeral Training Course for Lay Ministers 2019-20
