Keep it safe

Kids are curious creatures. So are dogs and cats.

If you live with kids or pets who may get into your stash, securing your weed is a must.

A safe or lock box is a the best place to keep your cannabis out of the wrong hands. If There’s a good variety at Canadian Tire. (If you get a fireproof safe, it can double as a great place to store your important documents.)

If a lower security option suits you, out of sight is out of mind.

You can keep your cannabis and accessories at the back of a high shelf in a closet or pantry people don’t often use and that’s out of reach for little ones.

Smell-proof containers are the best option for keeping snoops from following their nose.

One of the best strategies overall is being open with your kids about cannabis. That removes the novelty and satiates curiosity.

Keep it fresh

Keeping it safe is only half the battle; the other trick is to keep it dank.

Fresh sticky bud is the best kind of bud. Rather than a liquor cabinet, some of us greener folks have a bud bar.

So how do you make sure your cannabis stays fresh over time and doesn’t get ruined by mould or dryness?

While a baggie is great for holding your sandwich, it’s not good for bud. Cannabis stored in a bag can get easily damaged and will stink up the space where it’s stored. And if smells are leaking, you can bet that valuable moisture is escaping too.

So what’s the best way to keep the good stuff in?

Glass jars with a screw-top lid are ideal.

You can find canning jars at a variety of stores. They’re an excellent option for long-term storage. Try to find ones that are the right size for the amount of cannabis. You don’t want too much air because that will dry out the bud faster.

Store the jars away from sunlight in a cool place.

Don’t bother putting them in your fridge or freezer because both options can damage the trichomes.

Popping a Boveda pack in there along with your bud will make a world of difference.

What are your storage tips?
