In 2004, a group of like-minded people came together to find a way to find a way to increase philanthropic support for Australia's LGBTQIA+ communities.

Three years later, GALFA, now named Pride Foundation Australia, became Australia's first LGBTIQA+ focused philanthropic organisation.

Since then, the Pride Foundation has distributed more than $540,000 in grants for projects directly benefiting and supporting vulnerable groups within the LGBTQIA+ community.

We have established research partnerships, and commissioned and released key reports on LGBTQIA+ Australians experiencing homelessness and living with disability.

Pride Foundation has also given over twenty-six small grants to individuals and grass-roots organisations supporting local LGBTQIA+ people in Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and rural locations across the country.

However, despite our efforts and the needs of our community, recent analysis shows that less than 1% of philanthropic grants go to LGBTQIA+ sector. That is why we are so thankful to you, our supporters, for allowing us to continue our work increasing funding for the LGBTIQA+ community.

This year, we will continue to fund projects benefiting LGBTIQA+ people living with disability. We also plan to fund legal, policy and practical supports for LGBTIQA+ Refugees and Asylum Seekers living in Australia. We hope that you will consider donating, whether it be for the first time, or as a returning donor, so that we can continue to support more life-saving projects and programs for our community.

Every dollar we receive goes towards advancing equity for disadvantaged LGBTIQA+ Australians.
